Before You Sail · Antarctica, December 21, 2027 – January 7, 2028
Book your flights around two dates. Do that before you book anything else.
Your two flight dates
Arrive at Buenos Aires Ezeiza International Airport (EZE) on December 20, 2027, or before, if you want more time in Buenos Aires.
Depart from Ezeiza after 1:00 p.m. on January 7, 2028.
Do not book a morning departure on January 7. Disembarkation and the drive to the airport will not allow it.
Getting to the ship
Ezeiza sits about twenty miles from central Buenos Aires. The drive takes forty-five minutes to an hour, and longer in heavy traffic.
Round-trip transfers between the airport and the cruise terminal are available at $80 per person.
Arriving in Buenos Aires early
Most flights from North America to Buenos Aires are overnight and land in the morning.
If you want more than one evening in the city, fly in on December 18 or 19.
Four currencies
You will touch four national currencies on this itinerary.
Argentina — the Argentine peso, in Buenos Aires.
Chile — the Chilean peso, in Punta Arenas.
Argentina again — in Ushuaia.
Falkland Islands — the Falkland Islands pound, in Stanley. It is worth the same as the British pound and cannot be spent anywhere else, so do not carry any home.
Uruguay — the Uruguayan peso, in Montevideo.
Onboard accounts are in US dollars.
Cash, cards, and exchange
Cards are widely accepted in Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Punta Arenas, and Ushuaia. Small vendors, market stalls, and taxis often prefer cash.
In Stanley, shops and tour operators generally take cards and sterling, and many take US dollars.
Argentina’s exchange arrangements change often. Check the current situation close to your departure rather than relying on anything written a year in advance.
Tell your bank and card issuers your travel dates before you leave.
Passports
You will enter Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, and a British overseas territory. Your passport should have at least six months of validity beyond your return date, and several blank pages.
Check entry requirements for your nationality well before you sail.
